'El Mundo Maya' Restaurant is a hidden gem located on the Autopista Merida - Cancun, offering travelers a taste of authentic Yucatecan cuisine. Customers rave about the restaurant's quality and speedy service. Rebecca Tapia De La Torre describes her experience as "hands down excellent," highlighting the well-prepared dishes that provide a true flavor of the region.
One of the standout items is the Chaya water, a refreshing drink complemented by pineapple and orange. Estefania Cordero recommends trying the freshly made cheese empanadas, which are a delightful addition to any meal. The cleanliness of the establishment, despite its outdated appearance, adds to the overall positive experience.
With clean facilities and a small shop featuring unique local art, 'El Mundo Maya' is not only a stop for food but also a cultural experience. Each visit feels warm and inviting, as customers, like Tracey Davies, notice the authentic atmosphere, including live tortilla-making demonstrations. Though prices may be slightly higher due to its strategic location, the delicious food and cold drinks—especially the Coke made with real sugar—make it worthwhile. Whether you're on your way to Chichen Itza or simply exploring, a stop at 'El Mundo Maya' Restaurant is highly recommended for an enriching culinary journey!

Hands down excellent for authentication food from the Yucatan. From the outside you wouldn't know but everything we ordered was very well prepared and done so quickly. Def we will return!

Great stop on the road from Quintana Roo to Chichen Itza. Clean bathrooms (they are outdated but very clean). And the restaurant - great and authentic! Go for the Chaya water with pineapple and orange (specify no sugar), and the cheese empanadas (they see made fresh).

Stopped on the way to Chichen Itza. Place was clean. Really good authentic food and local drinks. Service was good and did I mentioned they had cold drinks and coke with real sugar? :) A bit pricier then other local places but I guess that's because of the location, still not bad. If I'll pass by definitely would stop again.

If you're visiting Valladolid, I would recommend stopping here for some authentic tacos. We were here early and opted for some pork tacos as well as some huevos y chaya (eggs and spinach) tacos. 4 of us ate for the equivalent of about 15usd, including drinks.
